Job Description

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Must possess or able to obtain a valid Nebraska CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
  • Must possess a good driving record.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be teamwork oriented.
  • Saturdays and Sunday availability helpful but not required.
  • Must be physically able to respond to emergency situations that could potentially occur while driving.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must be able to interact professionally and calmly with students and families.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include, but are not limited to)

  • Drives routes at regularly assigned times.
  • Ensures the safety of students by maintaining a safe environment on the bus and monitoring the safety of bus stop locations.
  • Reports to the bus barn 30 minutes before assigned depart times to complete pre-trip safety inspections of the bus and/or small vehicle.
  • Understands and follows all rules and regulations for bussing as set forth by the State of Nebraska and the Board of Education.
  • Keeps the interior of the bus clean.
  • Monitors safety supplies in and on all special education vehicles.
  • Emergency Response Checklist
  • First Aid
  • Insurance card and registration
  • Ensures that only registered and approved students and staff ride in the vehicle.
  • Informs the Transportation Director of any accidents or traffic violations immediately.
  • Exercises sound judgment and maintains good public relations with parents, students, and staff.

  • Accepts responsibility.
  • Proficient in written and oral communication.
  • Works well with children and adults.
