The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathobiology, Comparative Pathology Core (CPC), welcomes applications for a full-time Anatomic Pathologist at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Academic Clinician (AC) track. The position involves an 80-90% commitment to service activities for the CPC and a 10-20% commitment to teaching. The main effort for this role will be to focus on the current CPC's service activities and expand the capabilities of the core in the specific field of immunodiagnostics, study design, and interpretation. Additional responsibilities include the teaching of students during Diagnostic Services clinical rotation, as well as the supervision and education of Anatomic Pathology trainees. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate's training and experience. The search committee will begin considering applications immediately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidates' duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide comparative pathology expertise and further developing the capacity of the CPC.
  • Supervise immunohistochemical staining and other diagnostics for the CPC and PennVet Diagnostic Lab.
  • Assist in training pathology residents and the education of interns and veterinary students.
  • Teach veterinary students during their core curriculum, including didactic, laboratory, and one-on-one teaching as needed.

The successful candidate will play a major role in providing veterinary pathology expertise through the CPC to serve the broad biomedical research community across the UPenn campus. The main goal of the CPC is to provide expert pathological characterization of experimental animal models to fulfill the growing needs of UPenn investigators performing in vivo studies as part of their basic and translational research endeavors. To accomplish its mission, the CPC offers the expertise of board-certified veterinary pathologists and access to a state-of-the-art pathology laboratory. Bridging the divide between natural and experimental diseases, the CPC investigates the disease processes of domestic and experimental animals and their translational value for specific human conditions.

Qualifications
  • DVM/VMD or equivalent degree.
  • Board certified in veterinary anatomic pathology ACVP or ECVP.
  • A proven expertise in comparative pathology.
