Job Title: Pathology Assistant IJob Description
As a Pathology Assistant I, you will perform complete dissection, gross description, and selection and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and special studies, following departmental guidelines. Your role involves grossing small specimens, biopsies, and various sections such as derm, GYN, and breast, adhering to laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing. You will maintain high ethical standards and integrity while ensuring the laboratory's quality control policies and procedures are followed.
Responsibilities
+ Perform complete dissection, gross description, selection, and submission of tissue for examination.
+ Handle and process specimens according to laboratory procedures.
+ Adhere to quality control policies and procedures.
+ Assist with other rotations and assignments within the department.
+ Maintain a professional environment.
+ Identify and resolve problems affecting test performance or reporting.
+ Maintain high ethical standards and integrity in duties.
+ Manage hazardous waste and apply personal protection measures.
+ Experience in cutting frozen sections is desired.
Essential Skills
+ Pathology skills including grossing and tissue cutting.
+ ASCP certification is preferred.
+ Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related science.
+ Completion of a NAACLS accredited PA program.
+ Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment.
+ Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance processes.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.
+ Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.
Work Environment
Training will occur on the third shift, after which work will transition to the second shift until the third shift becomes available again. The third shift hours are from 7 PM to 3:30 AM, and the second shift hours are from 2:30 PM to 11:30 PM. The work environment is dynamic and requires flexibility to accommodate business needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Monrovia, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.55 - $40.55/hr.
