**Job Title: MIG Welder**
**Job Description**
The Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding metal components according to blueprints and specifications. This role involves operating welding equipment, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining a safe work environment.
**Responsibilities**
+ Fabricate and weld metal components such as leg stands, cab shields, engine mounts, and light bars using MIG welding techniques.
+ Perform MIG tack welding to secure steel pieces prior to final welding.
+ Execute cosmetic MIG welds on finished products, including VBOX Hopper Spreaders.
+ Perform straight line and in-position/out-of-position MIG welding with consistency.
+ Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate welding specifications.
+ Inspect welds visually to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
+ Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
+ Cut, grind, and fit metal parts before welding.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proficiency in MIG welding, with the ability to perform high-quality welds on steel and possibly aluminum.
+ Experience welding stainless steel with thicknesses ranging from 14 gauge to 3/4 inch plate.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.
+ Strong fabrication skills, including cutting, grinding, and fitting metal parts.
+ Skill in visually inspecting welds for quality and adherence to specifications.
+ Experience using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Around 2-3 years of experience working as a welder in a manufacturing environment.
+ Manual dexterity with steady hands and good hand-eye coordination.
+ Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and work in various positions.
+ Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including PPE use and hazard recognition.
+ Attention to detail with precision in measurements and weld quality.
+ Time management skills to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with other welders, fabricators, and engineers.
+ Problem-solving skills to identify and correct welding or fabrication issues.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL 61109.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
