Job description:

The IT Officer is responsible for the overall condition of all IT Systems on board. This includes all server & PC systems with their operating systems. The broadband internet connection system, the e-mail communication systems, and standard-office applications. He is responsible for:

Maintenance of hardware as wells as for all software related issues (configuration, updating and administration); Administrating the access permission of users including passwords.; The security of IT Systems (virus protection, protection against un authorized system access, protection of security sensitive information); User Induction and software training and gives support in all issues related to the IT hard-and-soft ware under his responsibility; Taking care of IT spare parts and IT consumables (toner, cartridges) for the receiving, stowage, care and economical use of all IT stores and spare parts.; The careful handling of all equipment and machinery in his/her area of responsibility;; Reporting to his Superior all accidents, near misses, deviations from operational routines and improvements which have a bearing on safety, security, environmental protection.; Responsible for the “CBT” Training - “Responsible Officer”; ;

This includes corrective measures for health and hygiene implementation.

The IT Officer has the authority to issue instructions related to system maintenance and security to all IT users.

ITO is familiar with “CHIEF ENGINEER STANDING ORDERS” and follows all rules of safety and pollution prevention as established on board and he is up to date and familiar with CCS SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM”

In case of emergency, he acts according to the Muster List.

Place of work: onboard a cruise ship.
