Location/Division Specific Information
This position is within the Laboratory Equipment Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, reporting to the Asheville, NC manufacturing site.
Discover Impactful Work:
In the role of an EHS intern, you will deliver tailored aid to the EHS department for the supervision of Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and operations. Your input will play a vital role in maintaining our conformity with safety guidelines and environmental legislation.
A day in the Life:
Actively participate in Tier meetings to discuss safety and environmental matters.
Review entries into the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management system and update records accordingly.
Coordinate contractor activities to ensure compliance with EHS standards.
Assist with all aspects of waste processing and management.
Participate in investigations to determine the cause of incidents and successfully implement corrective actions.
Start Date: This internship is set to begin on either May 11th or June 15th, 2026 for a duration of 10-12 weeks – dependent upon student availability per academic calendars.
Compensation & Relocation: Our undergraduate Operations internships offer an hourly rate between $21.50 - $28.75 dependent upon the location you are supporting (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines). Additionally, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 if necessary. Student must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of the internship to be eligible for the relocation stipend.
Education / Experience
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety ; Chemistry; Biochemistry, or another related field of study, or equivalent experience graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Capability to use diverse resources, respond quickly, understand the impact of changes and decisions, facilitate agreement, and build collaborative relationships.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows-based software.
Knowledge of chemical safety is a plus.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and manage various tasks effectively.
