Applied AI Intern - Controls - Summer 2026

OTTO's opportunity:

We are looking for a highly motivated summer intern with strong technical and analytical capabilities to help us design and build AI-powered tools that support sales, and customer service. The selected candidate will help define, develop, and test intelligent systems that deliver measurable business value - starting with a core project, but potentially expanding as new needs and opportunities emerge.

Potential areas of focus include:

• Conversational AI (e.g., product-selection chatbot)
• Intelligent quoting tools connected to ERP data
• Workflow automation using AI models
• AI-generated product summaries, and conversational suggestions for specific products
• Recommendation engines for internal or external users

Specifically, the Applied AI Intern - Controls - Summer 2026 will :

• Work with business stakeholders to understand problems and define AI-enabled solutions
• Help build AI workflows and get to see your efforts rolled out live on our website
• Build web interfaces or dashboards where needed (internal tools or customer-facing apps)
• Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, and IT to integrate tools with existing systems (e.g., ERP)
• Document your work and present outcomes to company leadership at the end of the internship

What you'll need to bring to the table:

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Software Engineering, or related field
• Hands-on experience with Python, JavaScript, or similar
• Familiarity with OpenAI, LLMs, or conversational AI frameworks is a plus
• Experience working with APIs, databases, or ERP integration (or a strong desire to learn)
• Curiosity, creativity, and a desire to solve real-world business problems using technology
